Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in Madame Web, is set to star in the upcoming movie adaptation of the popular video game Split Fiction. The film, which is being spearheaded by video game adaptation specialists Story Kitchen, is beginning to take shape. Jon M. Chu, acclaimed director of Wicked, is at the helm, and the screenplay is penned by the talented duo behind Deadpool & Wolverine, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Story Kitchen is currently shopping this promising talent package to Hollywood studios, anticipating a competitive bidding war.
A key aspect of the casting is the role Sydney Sweeney will play. She is slated to portray one of the two sisters, Zoe or Mio, though a final decision has yet to be made.

Split Fiction, developed by Hazelight and designed by Josef Fares, only launched in March but has quickly become a massive hit, selling over 2 million copies within a week. It's also set to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. IGN's review praised the game, giving it a 9/10 and describing it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another, Split Fiction is a rollercoaster of constantly refreshed gameplay ideas and styles – and one that’s very hard to walk away from."
This isn't the only Hazelight game on the path to the big screen. It Takes Two, another successful title with over 23 million copies sold, is also slated for a film adaptation, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson potentially starring.
While there's always a risk that these adaptations may not come to fruition, the current success of video game adaptations in Hollywood suggests a strong interest and potential for these projects. Last year, Story Kitchen announced several other adaptations, including Just Cause directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, Dredge: The Movie, Kingmakers, Sleeping Dogs, and even a live-action Toys 'R' Us movie.
Meanwhile, Hazelight is already teasing its next game, indicating more exciting developments on the horizon.
