When planning to travel with video game-inspired replicas or figurines, such as those from Call of Duty, it's wise to reconsider packing anything resembling a weapon. A recent post from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on Facebook, as reported by Dexerto, serves as a reminder of this. At Boston Logan International Airport, TSA officers discovered a replica of the Monkey Bomb from Call of Duty's Zombies mode in a checked bag. This figurine, designed to hold a game controller, features dynamite and cables, making it appear as a weapon.
The Monkey Bomb, or Cymbal Monkey, is a familiar sight in several Call of Duty games, from World at War to Black Ops 6. Despite its appeal as a collectible, the TSA warns against bringing such items in your luggage. "This monkey may rack up points in a game, but in real life, leave the gear for your loadout screen, not your baggage," the post stated. "Replica weapons and explosives, no matter how cool or collectible, aren't allowed in either carry-on or checked baggage."
The TSA's website further elaborates on prohibited items, including toy weapons like "squirt guns, Nerf guns, toy swords, or other items that resemble realistic firearms or weapons." This underscores the quality and realism of replicas like the Monkey Bomb figurine. If you're traveling to a convention or any place where you might purchase gaming merchandise, be mindful of these restrictions. The TSA prohibits any items, including replicas, in checked or carry-on baggage if they are deemed a potential security threat.
