Ubisoft Confirms More “Driver” Projects After Cancelation of Show Adaptation

Despite the cancellation of the planned live-action Driver TV series, Ubisoft assures fans that other Driver franchise projects are actively under development. Here's what we know.

Ubisoft's Continued Work on the Driver Franchise

Ubisoft Confirms More “Driver” Projects After Cancelation of Show AdaptationUbisoft has officially confirmed to Game File that the live-action Driver TV series is no longer in production. Initially announced in 2021 for exclusive streaming on Binge.com, the project was part of Ubisoft's broader strategy to expand its gaming franchises into other media. As stated by Ubisoft Film & Television head Danielle Kreinik, this was to "bring our games to life in new and exciting ways and create content set in the world, culture, and community of gaming."

The collaboration ended due to the closure of Hotrod Tanner LLC, a movie-related subsidiary (named after the Driver protagonist), in January. A Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed to Game File, "We are no longer moving forward with our partnership with Binge for a Driver series."

However, Ubisoft has emphasized its continued commitment to the Driver franchise. They've stated that they are "actively working on other exciting projects related to the franchise" and look forward to future announcements. Specific details regarding these new projects remain undisclosed, so fans should stay tuned for further updates.
