Ubisoft quietly launches a new NFT game: Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. This article explores the details of Ubisoft's latest foray into the NFT gaming space.
Ubisoft's Stealth NFT Release
As reported by Eurogamer on December 20th, Ubisoft discreetly released Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., a top-down multiplayer arcade shooter requiring cryptocurrency for gameplay.
Expanding on the Netflix series, "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix," the game incorporates familiar Ubisoft IPs like Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed. Limited to 10,000 players, access requires purchasing a Citizen ID NFT card for $25.63. This card tracks player stats and evolves based on in-game performance. Players can also resell their IDs.
The full game launch is slated for Q1 2025, with early access for those who secured IDs early. Ubisoft's Magic Eden page provides further details.
A Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Spinoff
The Netflix series, a spinoff of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon DLC, is set in a dystopian 1992 where the US is controlled by a megacorporation, Eden. The show follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier, and his adventures.
While Ubisoft hasn't revealed the game's storyline, it's confirmed to share the same universe. Player actions, including mission completion and community engagement, directly impact the game's narrative and leaderboard rankings.
