After a long wait and two delayed launches, Rune Slayer is finally here, and it's fantastic! While incredibly fun, the game has a steep learning curve, especially for MMORPG newcomers. This guide provides essential early-game tips to smooth your journey.

Avoid Unprovoked PvP

While Rune Slayer features full-loot PvP, it's not as brutal as it sounds. Death doesn't result in significant item loss. However, attacking players incurs a bounty. The higher your bounty, the more loot you drop upon death. Therefore, avoid attacking unless you have a compelling reason (or a strong party).

Craft Bags Immediately

Inventory and bank space are severely limited. Fortunately, you can craft bags. Craft Cotton Bags (Cotton found north of Wayshire, Flax south – be cautious of southern mobs) for an extra 10 inventory slots each. Do this early!

Pet Deaths are Temporary

Contrary to initial impressions, your pets don't die permanently. After a pet's health reaches zero, it has a 5-minute cooldown before being resummoned (check with the 'T' key). For quick healing, store and retrieve your pet at the Stable Master (you have one free slot).

Accept Every Quest

Rune Slayer boasts numerous quests, many of the "kill X" variety. To streamline progress, accept every quest available, including those from the job board. Often, quests can be combined, making this approach far more efficient.

Craft Everything At Least Once

Prioritize crafting necessary items, but also experiment with crafting items you don't immediately need. Crafting often unlocks new, superior crafting recipes. For example, smelting Iron Ore unlocked additional Iron Armor recipes for us.

Join a Guild

While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies require group efforts. Joining a guild is the easiest way to find groups for challenging encounters. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild.
