BioWare delivers good and bad news for Dragon Age: The Veilguard players. The game will launch without Denuvo DRM, but PC players will miss out on preloading.
No DRM for Veilguard – A Win for Players!
But No PC Preload
BioWare's Michael Gamble announced on Twitter (X) that Veilguard will skip Denuvo on PC. The reasoning? "We trust you." Denuvo, an anti-piracy DRM, is often criticized for performance issues. This decision has been met with positive reactions from many players, with one user commenting, "I support this. I will buy your game upon launch. Thank you."
Gamble also confirmed that Veilguard won't require always-online play. However, the absence of DRM means no PC preload, a significant drawback given the game's 100GB+ size. Console players, however, can preload. Xbox early access players can install now, while PlayStation early access players will need to wait until October 29th.
BioWare also revealed the system requirements. High-end PCs can utilize ray tracing and uncapped frame rates, while minimum specs aim for broad accessibility. Consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S) will offer fidelity and performance modes, targeting 30 and 60 FPS respectively. To fully utilize ray tracing on PC, you'll need at least an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, 16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT GPU.
