The Voodoo Doll is considered one of the safer Cursed Possessions in Phasmophobia due to its favorable risk-to-reward ratio. Although updates have altered some of its benefits, it remains a strong choice.

This doll's primary function is to provoke the ghost into performing evidence-related actions. Players achieve this by pushing each pin into the doll one by one. It's particularly useful for coaxing unresponsive or quiet ghosts into revealing evidence like EMF Level 5 or Ultraviolet footprints.

There are 10 pins in total that can be pushed to trigger these actions, but players must be aware of the risks. Each pin pushed reduces the user's sanity by 5%. Inserting every pin will drain up to 50% of sanity, significantly increasing the risk of ghost hunts.

The main danger lies with the heart pin. Since pin selection is random, pushing the heart pin immediately drops sanity by 10% and triggers a Cursed Hunt. During this event, the ghost spawns nearby and hunts for an extended duration—20 seconds longer than standard hunts.

While the Voodoo Doll carries considerable risk, the potential reward in gathering evidence can be worthwhile for prepared investigators.

Cursed Possessions (commonly called "Cursed Objects") are special items in Phasmophobia that randomly appear on any map, though their availability may vary by difficulty setting or in Challenge Mode.

Unlike standard equipment, which helps locate ghosts and gather evidence with minimal risk, Cursed Objects serve as shortcuts to manipulate ghost behavior at a much higher personal danger.

Some Cursed Objects are safer than others, depending on their abilities. Players must decide whether to use them, as there is no penalty for avoiding them. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract unless Custom settings are adjusted.

There are seven different Cursed Objects available in the game:
