Don't Nod, the French studio behind Life is Strange, has launched the first installment of their new narrative adventure. Players can currently experience "Tape 1," with "Tape 2" set for free release to all purchasers on April 15th.
Initially unveiled in 2023, the game centers on a close group of friends shattered during the summer of 1995. Twenty-seven years later, the specters of that summer resurface, unleashing unforeseen and terrifying repercussions.
Inspired by classics like It, Yellowjackets, and I Know What You Did Last Summer, the game expertly blends nostalgic charm with psychological thriller suspense. The developers have structured the game into two parts – "Bloom" and "Rage." Currently, only "Bloom," the first half of this chilling narrative, is accessible (as of February 18th).
"The Tape," encompassing the second half, will debut on April 15th. Initially scheduled for March, the release was postponed to allow for additional refinement.
The critical reception is positive, with OpenCritic reporting an average score of 74/100, suggesting a promising start for this captivating mystery.
