Starting August 23rd, 2024, all in-game transactions within Mortal Kombat: Onslaught will be disabled. Players can continue to enjoy the game until October 21st, 2024. After this date, the game's servers will be shut down, marking the end of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught.

The reasons behind the termination of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught remain undisclosed. However, recent developments at NetherRealm, including the closure of their mobile games division responsible for Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice, suggest a possible broader strategic shift that might impact other mobile titles from the same studio.

What About In-Game Purchases?

Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, released in October 2023, was developed to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary, announced in October 2022. This title stands out in the Mortal Kombat series as the fourth game to deviate from traditional fighting mechanics, blending action-adventure and RPG elements. It features intense combat combined with a cinematic storyline reminiscent of free-to-play mobile MOBAs. The game's narrative focuses on thwarting the fallen Elder God Shinnok's attempt to reclaim his power, with assistance from Raiden and a squad of fighters.
