Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have a new perk to enjoy: the ability to stream select games directly to their Xbox consoles without the need for downloading. This exciting update was announced through an Xbox Wire news post, highlighting that Ultimate members can now access games from the Game Pass catalog and even some of their owned games on Xbox Series X, S, and Xbox One consoles via cloud streaming.
Previously, this streaming feature was available on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets. Now, for the first time, console users can benefit from this convenience, saving both time and valuable hard drive space.
To take advantage of this feature, Xbox provides the following instructions:
- To start streaming from an Xbox console: Navigate to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games.
- Identifying cloud playable games: These games will have a cloud badge on their game page. Use the filters to streamline your search: choose Filter > Ready to play > Cloud gaming.
- To begin playing: Select the desired game and opt for Play with Cloud Gaming. You can also start streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud playable games.
Conversely, users can stream any game installed on their Xbox consoles to devices with supported web browsers via this link. Note that this feature is no longer supported on the Xbox mobile app, but remains accessible on phones through the provided browser link. Xbox is also working to extend this functionality to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, as well as Meta Quest headsets.
In another significant update, Xbox announced that starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward compatible games will support remote play as well.
