Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Updates for Upcoming Titles
Remedy Entertainment recently shared progress updates on several key projects, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor, in their latest financial report. The report detailed the advancement of each game and outlined Remedy's overall publishing strategy.
Control 2 Reaches Production Readiness
The highly anticipated sequel, Control 2, has achieved a significant milestone: production readiness. This means the game is now fully playable, and the development team is focusing on scaling up production, including rigorous testing and performance optimization to ensure it meets quality standards. Additionally, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Full Swing
Codename Condor, the multiplayer game set within the Control universe, is currently in full production. The team is actively developing multiple maps and mission types, with internal and limited external playtesting underway to refine gameplay and gather feedback. This marks Remedy's first foray into live-service gaming, and the game will utilize a "service-based fixed price" model.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake Updates
Alan Wake 2, including its expansion Night Springs, has received positive critical and fan reception, and has already recouped the majority of its development and marketing costs. A physical Deluxe Edition will launch on October 22nd, followed by a Collector's Edition in December. Pre-orders are open on the official website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from production readiness to full production. The team is currently working on a complete, playable version, focusing on distinctive gameplay elements to differentiate the remake.
Remedy's Future with Control and Alan Wake
Remedy emphasized their long-term strategy for the Control and Alan Wake franchises. Having acquired full rights to both IPs from 505 Games, Remedy is exploring self-publishing and other business models, with further announcements expected by year's end. They are evaluating self-publishing options alongside potential partnerships.
Remedy stated that expanding the Control and Alan Wake franchises, connected through the Remedy Connected Universe, will be crucial to their future growth. Further updates on these franchises and their upcoming games are anticipated throughout the year.
