Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land Synthesis Guide

One of the most intricate aspects of *Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land* is the Synthesis mechanic, which is intricately woven into the fabric of the game. Every resource you gather and every weapon you craft depends on it. Here's how you can master this essential feature.

Synthesis Types in Atelier Yumia

Synthesis Types in Atelier Yumia

In *Atelier Yumia*, there are three distinct types of Synthesis:

  • Regular Synthesis conducted at an Alchemist’s altar.
  • Simple Synthesis accessible through the radial menu.
  • Building Synthesis available in building mode.

To create weapons, armor, battle accessories, magical items, and materials needed for Synthesis, you'll need to use the Regular Synthesis mechanic, which is only available at an Alchemist’s altar. Early in the game, you unlock the Atelier, where you can return anytime to Synthesize. In areas where you can build—like cleared manabound zones or campsites—you can construct a Simple Altar, allowing regular Synthesis in those locations.

Simple Synthesis can be accessed at any time outside of battle via the radial menu. It's used to craft items like bandages, gauntlets for ziplines, and repair kits for treasure chests, ladders, and more, provided you have the necessary resources.

Building mode, also accessed through the radial menu, is available only on specific plots of land. While not explicitly labeled as Synthesis, Yumia is indeed Synthesizing storage chests and wall hangings. The story often refers to this process as Synthesis, so keep that in mind to avoid confusion.

The most complex form of Synthesis in *Atelier Yumia* is the regular type conducted at altars. For instance, to craft a gun staff for Yumia, you first need to find the recipe while exploring. You can also upgrade existing gun staff recipes at a Recipe Recall Station using particles from mana fountains. Here’s what you need to do at an Alchemist’s altar:

  1. Choose the type of gun staff you want to create.
  2. Select Synthesis Skills if they are unlocked in your skill tree.
  3. Choose the initial Alchemy Core to start with:
    • Effects Alchemy Core enhances the selected skills.
    • Quality Alchemy Core boosts the quality level of the finished item.
    • Trait Alchemy Core increases the number of Trait Crystal slots you can use.
  4. Fill the slots of each Alchemy Core with your collected resources.
  5. Collect mana fragments to further enhance the item’s quality.
  6. Complete the Synthesis process.

To craft powerful items early on, unlock Synthesis Skills from the Synthesis section of the skill tree as soon as possible. These skills provide flat damage and quality boosts to your items, and they allow you to duplicate items, saving resources.

To further improve item quality, add resources to all three Alchemy Cores. Use the left or right bumper to fill the slots in a specific core. Collecting mana fragments—the yellow sparkles around an Alchemy Core—for all three cores will significantly strengthen your item. This is usually recommended unless you're crafting a quest item.

Don't forget to use resources that match the element type of specific slots. Resources with a blue outline indicate a match. Organize your resources from the submenu to select higher-quality ones first, but consider prioritizing effects over quality when necessary.

If the complexity of this mechanic is overwhelming, opt for the auto-Synthesis option after selecting your Synthesis Skills. The game efficiently crafts the best possible item, enabling you to tackle the final boss on Normal difficulty without much trouble.

With these tips, you're well-equipped to maximize the Synthesis mechanic in *Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land*, which is now available to play.
