"Avowed on Xbox Series X Targets 60FPS"

By LiamMar 29,2025

Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated role-playing game, Avowed, is set to deliver a smooth gaming experience by achieving up to 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X. Game director Carrie Patel shared this exciting detail with MinnMax, although she did not delve deeper into specifics. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version of the game will maintain a steady 30fps, as previously announced.

It remains to be seen whether Avowed will feature the popular dual-mode setup that many modern games offer, including a performance mode for 60fps at potentially reduced visuals, and a graphics mode for 30fps with enhanced visual fidelity. Alternatively, the game might naturally reach 60fps on the Xbox Series X without the need for a specific performance setting.

Avowed is slated for release on February 13, available at a premium price of $89.99. For those looking to save, a standard edition priced at $69.99 will be available starting February 18. This tiered release strategy, which has stirred discussions among gamers, has been adopted by some publishers but abandoned by others, like Ubisoft.

Set within the same universe as Pillars of Eternity, Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG that places a strong emphasis on player choice. The narrative is rich with themes of war, mystery, and intrigue, allowing players to explore the expansive world and develop relationships that can turn into deep friendships or fierce rivalries.

The game has already garnered positive feedback, with IGN's Final Preview highlighting its engaging conversations, the freedom it offers players, and overall enjoyment, stating, "Avowed is just a lot of fun."
