Treyarch Unveils "The Tomb," a New Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, in 115 Day Celebration

Treyarch is marking 115 Day with a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the highly anticipated reveal of a new map: The Tomb. This annual January 15th event brings a comprehensive blog post detailing upcoming zombie-themed surprises.

The Tomb, a desert-themed map, will launch with Season 2 on January 28th, adding to the Zombies universe just weeks after Season 1’s Citadelle des Morts.

Following the events of Citadelle des Morts, the story continues as Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya investigate an excavation site based on clues left by Gabriel Krafft, seeking the Sentinel Artifact. The Tomb, situated on ancient burial grounds dating back to 2500 B.C.E., promises a storyline deeper than initially imagined. While details are scarce, the map's connection to British archeologist Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe is hinted at.

Gameplay-wise, The Tomb offers a similar experience to Liberty Falls, featuring compact play areas designed for high replayability and numerous Easter eggs. Treyarch also teased a reimagined Wonder Weapon drawing inspiration from previous games and the return of a classic SMG.

Season 2 will also bring significant quality-of-life improvements, including community-requested features such as tracking up to 10 Calling Card and Camo challenges across Zombies and Multiplayer. A co-op pause option for Zombies is added, along with the ability for players to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadouts if disconnected. Separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will also be implemented.

To celebrate 115 Day, players can enjoy double GobbleGum earn rates and double XP for players, weapons, and the battle pass until 10 AM PT on January 21st. Data on the story-driven Directed Mode reveals over 480 million hours played, with the average Main Quest completion rate more than doubling since its launch.

The impact of the recent SAG-AFTRA strike on the voice acting for The Tomb's characters is also acknowledged, following Activision's previous statement regarding recast roles.
