"Chrono Trigger Marks 30 Years with Multiple Releases Planned"

By PenelopeMar 26,2025

Square Enix is thrilled to announce that the iconic JRPG, Chrono Trigger, has reached its 30-year milestone. To celebrate this significant anniversary, the company has promised a series of upcoming projects that will be unveiled over the next year. While the details of these projects remain under wraps, the announcement suggests that they could span beyond the game itself, sparking excitement and speculation among fans.

For decades, enthusiasts have eagerly awaited a comprehensive remaster or a modern console release of Chrono Trigger. Despite its revered status as one of the most beloved JRPGs of all time, the game has not seen a full-fledged remake or a PlayStation re-release since the PS1 port in 1999. Over the years, it has found its way to PC and mobile platforms, yet a definitive modern version continues to elude fans. With Square Enix's history of revisiting its classics, hope remains alive for a more substantial update.

In the meantime, the only confirmed event for the anniversary is a special livestream concert featuring the game's legendary soundtrack. This concert will be broadcast on YouTube on March 14th at 7:00 p.m. PT and will continue into the early hours of the next morning.

Chrono Trigger 30th Anniversary Concert

Chrono Trigger is an epic time-traveling RPG, created by a dream team of developers including Hironobu Sakaguchi of Final Fantasy fame, Yuji Horii, the mastermind behind Dragon Quest, and Akira Toriyama, the legendary artist of Dragon Ball. Originally launched in 1995 for the Super Famicom and SNES, the game follows the adventures of Crono and his companions as they navigate through various eras, from a prehistoric world teeming with dinosaurs to a dystopian future dominated by an alien force. Players recruit allies, alter history, and confront one of the most memorable final bosses in gaming.

As Chrono Trigger marks its 30th anniversary, the absence of a confirmed remake or console port keeps fans on the edge of their seats. However, Square Enix's recent statement leaves the door open for future possibilities. Stay tuned to Chrono Trigger's official X page for the latest updates on what's in store.
