An IGN interview with Civ VII lead designer Ed Beach on February 13, 2025, offered a glimmer of hope for Gandhi's return. Beach confirmed that the possibility is being considered, although it might be some time before he appears, likely as part of future downloadable content.
Beach addressed the absence of several popular civilizations and leaders from the initial Civ VII launch. He stated that the decision to omit certain established factions, such as Great Britain or India, was a matter of balancing the roster. "There are just too many popular choices," Beach explained, "and we always want to have a few fresh ones." While some familiar faces were left out, Beach reassured fans that Firaxis is considering their reintroduction in the future. "So there's hope for Gandhi, yet," he concluded.
Given the extensive DLC history of Civilization VI, the expectation is that Gandhi will eventually return to the Civilization VII fold. However, a precise release date for his potential DLC appearance remains unannounced.
