Tekken Director's Colonel Sanders Crossover Dream Remains Unfulfilled
Despite Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada's long-held desire, a crossover featuring Colonel Sanders from KFC isn't happening, according to a recent interview. Harada's repeated attempts, including direct outreach to KFC's Japanese headquarters, have been met with rejection, both from KFC and his own superiors.

Harada's disappointment is palpable. He's previously expressed his vision for a "brilliant" Colonel Sanders character in Tekken, even outlining concrete ideas with fellow director Ikeda. However, KFC's marketing department remains unconvinced, fearing negative player reception. This rejection, coupled with internal resistance, effectively shuts down the possibility for now. Harada even issued a public plea: "So if anyone from KFC reads this interview, please contact me!"

Game designer Michael Murray elaborated on the failed negotiations, stating that KFC wasn't receptive to the idea. He highlighted the inherent difficulties in securing such crossovers, even though Colonel Sanders has appeared in other games.

While the Colonel Sanders crossover remains a pipe dream, Tekken has successfully integrated other guest characters, including Akuma (Street Fighter), Noctis (Final Fantasy), and Negan (The Walking Dead). Harada also mentioned a similar, albeit equally unlikely, Waffle House crossover. However, he confirmed that securing these collaborations isn't solely within the Tekken team's control.

For now, Tekken 8 fans can anticipate the return of Heihachi Mishima as the game's third DLC character. The Colonel Sanders crossover, however, remains a tantalizing "what if."
