James Gunn and Peter Safran have confirmed that The Brave and the Bold will introduce a new Batman to the DC Universe (DCU), definitively excluding Robert Pattinson. During a DC Studios presentation, Safran and Gunn clarified that Pattinson's Batman remains exclusive to Matt Reeves' "The Batman Epic Crime Saga."
Gunn stated unequivocally, "It's certainly not the plan," regarding Pattinson's inclusion in the DCU. Safran echoed this, emphasizing the necessity of introducing a new Batman: "And we love him, but we've got to introduce a Batman into the DCU. That's imperative. And so that's the plan with The Brave and the Bold."
Earlier speculation arose from Reeves' openness to a potential crossover. However, Reeves himself has focused on his own standalone saga. He stated, "What the future brings? I can’t really tell you. I have no idea right now except that my head is down now about getting The Batman Part 2 shooting..."

Safran and Gunn expressed their enthusiasm for Reeves' vision for The Batman Part 2, noting its encouraging progress despite a delayed release date of October 1, 2027.
The Brave and the Bold is currently in active development, with Gunn and Safran actively shaping the script. While Andy Muschietti's involvement as director remains uncertain, Safran confirmed further announcements are imminent.
A brief, silhouetted appearance of Batman in Creature Commandos Episode 6 subtly confirms his pre-existing presence and established reputation within the DCU, eliminating the need for an origin story. Gunn's comments to Rotten Tomatoes TV clarified the stylistic choice, emphasizing the intention to maintain a more mysterious initial portrayal. He also hinted at a future team-up between this DCU Batman and Superman. Gunn stated, "This is the DCU Batman…He's the most popular superhero in the world and I can't wait for people to see more of him, along with Superman, and together.”
