Big Bad Wolf, the studio behind critically acclaimed games like Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong and The Council, has unveiled its next ambitious project: Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss. The announcement was accompanied by a stunning CG trailer, introducing players to Noah, the protagonist battling encroaching madness, the submerged city of R'lyeh, and the terrifying Great Old One, Cthulhu himself.
The year is 2053. Deep-sea corporate mining operations unwittingly awaken an ancient cosmic horror. Players assume the role of Noah, an agent with Interpol's clandestine Occult Affairs division, investigating the mysterious disappearance of miners in the Pacific Ocean. Aided by Key, a sophisticated AI companion, players will delve into the secrets of the sunken city of R'lyeh, solve challenging puzzles, and fight to preserve their sanity amidst Cthulhu's insidious influence.
Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game promises breathtaking, reality-warping environments that will immerse players in a truly haunting atmosphere. The recently released trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse into the tense and thrilling experience awaiting players. Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss is slated for release in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
