EA Confirms Plans for Nintendo Switch 2 Releases
Electronic Arts (EA) has confirmed its intention to bring many of its popular titles to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. During a recent financial call, CEO Andrew Wilson highlighted key franchises like Madden NFL and EA Sports FC as potential strong performers on the new console, suggesting they could see "real energy" on the platform. The Sims franchise was also mentioned as a likely candidate for a Switch 2 release.
Wilson emphasized the opportunity to reach new players with the Switch 2's launch. He cited The Sims' previous success on Nintendo platforms, where 50% of players were new to EA, as evidence of the potential market. While specific release details remain unconfirmed, Wilson expressed confidence in EA's IP's ability to thrive on the new hardware.
The announcement fuels speculation about the versions of Madden and EA Sports FC that will arrive on the Switch 2. While EA has historically released "legacy" versions of FIFA on Nintendo consoles, recent efforts have focused on feature parity across platforms. The increased power of the Switch 2 suggests that future iterations of EA Sports FC could offer a closer experience to their counterparts on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
The Switch 2's game lineup is gradually taking shape. Numerous third-party titles are rumored, including Civilization VII (with Firaxis noting interest in the reported Joy-Con mouse mode), Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, RoboCop: Rogue City from Nacon, and the highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong. Nintendo itself has confirmed work on a new Mario Kart installment, with further details expected at a Nintendo Direct in April.
