Evil Dead: The Game is no longer available for purchase, as the publisher has removed it from digital storefronts.
The asymmetric multiplayer title, based on the beloved action-horror franchise, launched in 2022 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. IGN's review of Evil Dead: The Game awarded it an 8/10, praising it as "a compelling and exhilarating asymmetric multiplayer experience that captures the spirit of the cult horror-comedies, even with some rough edges."
A Game of the Year Edition followed a year later but failed to significantly boost player engagement. By September 2023, the Nintendo Switch version was canceled, and further content development ceased.
Now, three years post-launch, Evil Dead: The Game has been permanently withdrawn. However, its servers will remain active, allowing existing owners to continue playing.
In a statement on the game’s Steam page, developer and publisher Saber Interactive confirmed the move:
We confirm the game is being removed from digital stores. Current owners can still play, as we plan to keep the servers online.
We sincerely thank our community—everyone who has supported the game from the start or joined along the way. Your support means a lot.
The decision has drawn negative reviews on the game’s Steam page, with many calling it a final blow for the title. It currently holds a 'Mixed' rating from user reviews.
"The end is near," reads one recent positive review from a player with over 380 hours logged. "It was a great ride while it lasted, and I mean that."
Saber Interactive, the studio behind last year's hit Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, is currently developing several licensed titles. These include John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, Jurassic Park Survival, and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender game. Turok: Origins and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 are also in the works.
