Marvel Rivals: Wong's Potential Addition Sparks Fan Speculation
A recently released trailer for Marvel Rivals' new Sanctum Sanctorum map has ignited speculation among players regarding the potential addition of Wong to the game's roster. The trailer briefly showcases a painting of Doctor Strange's mystical ally, Wong, fueling excitement within the community.
The game, a multiplayer hero shooter boasting over 10 million players in its first 72 hours, launches Season 1: Eternal Night on January 10th. This season features Dracula as the primary antagonist, hinting at a supernatural theme. The Fantastic Four, including their villainous counterparts the Maker and Malice (as alternate skins), are confirmed additions.
Reddit user fugo_hate highlighted the Wong painting on r/marvelrivals, prompting discussion about his potential inclusion and speculating on his possible skillset. While Wong's appearance might simply be an Easter egg referencing Doctor Strange's ally, the possibility of a playable Wong, given his rising popularity thanks to Benedict Wong's MCU portrayal, is enticing. He's previously appeared in various Marvel games, though often in non-playable roles.
The Sanctum Sanctorum map itself is packed with references to the supernatural side of the Marvel universe. Season 1 will also introduce three new locations and a new game mode, Doom Match. Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman will become playable characters on January 10th. The inclusion of Wong remains purely speculative, but the Easter egg has certainly captured the imagination of Marvel Rivals players.
