Hunting for resources in Monster Hunter Wilds can be a rewarding, yet sometimes challenging, experience. One such resource, Sharp Fangs, proves particularly useful in early-game crafting, allowing you to forge gear like Chatacabra and Talioth armor. Early in the game, the Windward Plains serve as a prime hunting ground for Sharp Fangs. Optional quests like "Beware the Chatacabra" or "The Desert is Demanding" offer convenient access to this area, providing a generous 50-minute time limit. Remember to prepare with a hearty meal before embarking on your hunt!
Once in the Windward Plains, head to Area 8—the largest area, teeming with smaller monsters. While several creatures here have a chance to drop Sharp Fangs, the Gaijo is your best bet for consistent yields.
Gaijos: Your Primary Sharp Fang Source
Gaijos, resembling crocodiles with unique snouts, are typically found near or in riverbeds, usually solitary. Use your map to locate their positions (indicated by purple diamonds near water sources). These relatively weak creatures are easily dispatched, even with early-game weapons. Carving a defeated Gaijo guarantees a single Sharp Fang.
With four to five Gaijos typically spawning in Area 8, and the ability to repeatedly access the Windward Plains through optional quests, farming Sharp Fangs from Gaijos is an efficient strategy.
Talioth: An Alternative Source
Talioths, bipedal creatures found in packs in Area 8 (and sometimes Area 13), also have a chance to drop Sharp Fangs, though not guaranteed. While slightly tougher than Gaijos, they still pose little threat with starting equipment. Hunting Talioths also conveniently progresses the "The Desert is Demanding" quest, requiring you to slay eight of them.
