Feral Interactive Drops the Imperium Update for ROME: Total War

ROME: Total War enthusiasts on Android are in for a treat with the massive free Imperium Update released by Feral Interactive. This update introduces a plethora of gameplay tweaks, control improvements, and quality-of-life features that significantly enhance the experience of this classic strategy game, which made its Android debut back in 2018. Fans of the standalone expansions, Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, will also enjoy these updates next week.

What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?

The Imperium Update incorporates some of the best elements from Feral's more recent mobile titles, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE. Players can now benefit from three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These features provide enhanced control over units, making battles more strategic and precise. Now, you can move your army, agents, or fleets effortlessly by simply tapping and holding, eliminating the need to manually drag paths.

Positioning Mode allows for fine-tuning unit placements with ease by tapping and holding. The Group Grid feature simplifies managing unit groups with its collapsible selection menu. Meanwhile, Melee Mode enables ranged units to switch to close combat as needed, adding a new layer of tactical depth.

One of the standout features of the update is the Command Slowdown, which automatically slows the game when issuing complex orders, giving players more time to strategize. Additionally, the update introduces keyboard and mouse support for Android and iPad users for the first time, enhancing the gaming experience on larger screens.

The minimap in ROME: Total War has been revamped to resemble that of MEDIEVAL II, offering smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button allows for quick returns to the default view, ensuring seamless gameplay.

The Imperium Update is currently available for download on the Google Play Store for all ROME: Total War Android users. Keep an eye out for the updates for Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, set to roll out next week.
