Jason Kingsley, the CEO of Rebellion, has expressed a deep affection for the Evil Genius franchise but has not yet made any official announcements regarding a potential Evil Genius 3. While the series holds a significant place in his heart, Kingsley is currently focused on exploring innovative ways to elevate the franchise to new heights.
Kingsley has hinted that the concept of world domination, a central theme in Evil Genius, could be expanded beyond the traditional base-building simulator genre into other strategic game formats. Although specific projects remain in the early stages of discussion, the development team is energetically brainstorming fresh ideas to shape the future of the franchise.
Evil Genius 2, which was released in 2021, garnered "mostly positive" reviews from critics on Metacritic. However, the reception among regular players was less favorable. Despite enhancements in graphics and efforts to address previous shortcomings, many felt that the sequel did not live up to the original. Common criticisms included issues with the global map, the decline in quality of minions and structures, and several other elements that players felt did not meet their expectations.
