GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day

Ned Luke, the voice actor behind Michael De Santa in Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5, has reassured fans that GTA 6 is well worth the wait. In a recent interview with the YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke shared his bold prediction that GTA 6 could rake in a staggering $1.3 billion on its first day of release. He emphasized the excitement surrounding the game, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." Luke also highlighted GTA 5's impressive launch, which earned over $800 million in its first 24 hours back in 2013, suggesting that GTA 6 is poised to surpass these figures significantly.

According to DFC Intelligence, a research company, GTA 6 is projected to sell over 40 million copies and generate $3.2 billion in its first year, with $1 billion coming solely from pre-orders. This anticipation underscores the immense excitement and expectations surrounding the game's release.

Ned Luke's confidence in GTA 6 stems from his belief in Rockstar Games' ability to deliver something extraordinary. He noted, "No one ever knows what to expect with what Rockstar Games is up to," hinting at the innovative and unpredictable nature of the upcoming title.

The Future Of GTA 5 Characters In GTA 6

Luke also discussed the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA 6. While his character, Michael, has not appeared in GTA Online since its launch, the other protagonists, Trevor and Franklin, have made appearances. Luke teased the possibility of Michael returning in a speculated final DLC for GTA Online or even in GTA 6 itself. Steven Ogg, who voiced Trevor, shared with ScreenRant in January 2025 his ideal scenario for Trevor in GTA 6, suggesting a dramatic "passing the torch" moment at the game's beginning.

Luke added, "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the enthusiasm from both actors, no official announcements have been made regarding the characters' involvement in GTA 6.

GTA 6 May Be At Its Testing Phase

Former Rockstar Games Animator Mike York suggested that GTA 6 might currently be in its in-house testing phase. In a now-deleted video interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, as reported by GamesRadar, York described GTA 6 as unlike any other open-world game due to its unpredictability. He stated, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."

York believes that the game is likely undergoing in-house testing, with developers "still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras." He also speculated that the game could be at least playable at this stage, with many testers possibly having already experienced it.

Rockstar Games unveiled the first trailer for GTA 6 in December 2023, but since then, the company has remained tight-lipped about further details. Reports from Take-Two Interactive's Financial Report in 2024 suggested a potential Fall 2025 release, though no official release date has been confirmed.
