Infinity Nikki has launched its multiplayer-focused 1.5 update on Steam, but the release comes with significant controversy.
Infold Games' fashion-adventure title finally arrived on Valve's platform yesterday after months of Epic Games Store exclusivity. While this should have been a celebratory milestone, players instead encountered numerous technical problems, confusing design alterations, and demanding gacha requirements. The studio has issued apologies and promised compensation, but the community backlash continues to grow.

Infinity Nikki PC players eagerly awaited the Steam debut, only to face persistent crashes and instability. While launch issues aren't uncommon, players quickly identified more fundamental concerns beyond performance problems.
Two new premium outfits - Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember - each contain 11 individual pieces, requiring up to 220 pulls (and significant spending) to complete full sets. This unexpected increase from standard outfit requirements has alarmed players about future monetization trends.
Compounding frustrations, Infold abruptly extended the Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event duration from two to three weeks without clear communication. This combination of technical problems and aggressive monetization sparked organized protests on Chinese social platforms, eventually spreading globally with calls for Steam boycotts and negative reviews.
"What I am reminding people of is a decent amount of Chinese IN stylists pledging to not spend/pull on the banners to send a message," explained Reddit user kiaxxl in a call-to-action post. "For gacha games, tracking how successful a new batch of content is usually measured on the first few days."
The protest movement has impacted Infinity Nikki's Steam reception, where the game currently holds a "Mixed" rating. The backlash prompted Infold to issue an apology letter acknowledging issues and promising improvements. The studio has addressed some technical problems and pledged better communication moving forward.
Apology Letter Regarding Version 1.5 Gaming Experience
Dear Stylists,
Hope this message finds you well.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies...— Infinity Nikki (@InfinityNikkiEN) April 29, 2025
The apology included commitments to revert the event schedule and provide compensation (10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds). However, many players remain dissatisfied as the studio maintains its 11-piece outfit requirements.
While some consider this partial resolution a victory, veteran players caution against complacency. "If we accept the 11-piece outfits as standard, most new 5-stars will follow this pattern," warned Reddit user EdensAsmr. "This fundamentally changes the resource planning required for dedicated players."
Despite the controversy, Update 1.5 introduces the new Sea of Stars area and offers 100 free pulls. Players can find complete details in our Infinity Nikki 1.5 Bubble Season guide, including active redemption codes for bonus rewards.
