Unraveling the Mystery of "Bad Blood" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 offers a wealth of side quests, many enriching the game's narrative and character development. This guide details how to initiate and complete the "Bad Blood" quest.

Initiating the Quest:

After gaining open-world access in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, progress through the quest involving finding Mutt. This leads you to a clearing near Bozhena's hut. Speaking with Bozhena about Mutt reveals her daughter Pavlena's disappearance, prompting her request for help and initiating the "Bad Blood" quest.

Gathering Information:

  1. Troskowitz Investigation: Begin by questioning Bailiff Thrush and Innkeeper Betty in Troskowitz. This provides crucial background on Bozhena, Pavlena, and their strained relationship with the village.

  2. Woodcutter Clues: Locate Woodcutter Dushko. He directs you to Roman's house, requiring lockpicking skills to enter. Examine Pavlena's basket inside.

  3. The Clearing: Dushko's further guidance leads you to a clearing—a favorite spot for Roman and Pavlena—where you discover Roman's body and a blood trail.

  4. Additional Witnesses: Interview Hogherd Hugo and, importantly, Hired Hand Straw (requiring a successful dialogue check). Straw reveals Jakesh's involvement and the true events surrounding Roman and Pavlena. You can then speak with Thrush regarding Straw's actions.

  5. The Rocks near Zhelejov: Continue the investigation to the rocks south of Zhelejov.

Confronting Ota:

Ota and Pavlena

Navigate the large boulder to find a hidden path and ladder leading to Ota and Pavlena. High Charisma is advantageous for dialogue checks. The key phrases to convince Ota to release Pavlena are: "What's your name?", "Let her go and I'll let you go.", and "I'll put in a good word for you with His Lordship." Pavlena subsequently kills Ota. Return to Bozhena with Pavlena.

Choosing Your Path: Kill Jakesh or Make Peace?

Jakesh at his child's grave

The quest culminates with a choice: kill Jakesh or broker peace. Find Jakesh at his child's grave. Killing him lowers your reputation in Troskowitz but significantly improves it with Bozhena and Pavlena, unlocking unique dialogue with Pavlena and a reward (Roman's gift necklace). Choosing peace results in a 100 groschen reward from Jakesh (which you can keep or share with Bozhena). Bozhena and Pavlena are then welcomed back to the settlement.

The Consequences of Your Actions:

The decision to kill Jakesh or make peace significantly impacts your reputation and rewards. Consider the ramifications before making your choice.
