Silent Hill f becomes the franchise's first title to receive Japan's strictest 18+ age rating.
As shown in last night's Japanese reveal trailer, Silent Hill f carries an M rating in the U.S., PEGI 18 in Europe, and Japan's CERO:Z classification - the country's most restrictive rating.
While ratings may change during development, Automaton notes this marks a franchise first. Previous Japanese-developed Silent Hill titles (1-4) held CERO:C ratings (15+), while Western-developed entries typically received either CERO:C or CERO:D (17+) classifications.
Interestingly, even Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 Remake maintained Japan's CERO:C rating despite its Mature (17+) designation in Western markets.
Konami's latest Silent Hill Transmission focused exclusively on Silent Hill f - the first main series installment in 13 years. Originally announced in 2022, the game transports players to 1960s Japan following teenager Shimizu Hinako, whose story was penned by Ryukishi07 (When They Cry series creator).

The trailer depicts Hinako in progressively distressed states - bruised, bloodied, her school uniform torn. While primarily showcasing cutscenes, we glimpse Silent Hill f's unsettling environments, disturbing creature designs, and what appears to be a floral blood-red Otherworld replacing the traditional rust-and-metal aesthetic.
Konami hasn't announced a release window for Silent Hill f, nor shared updates about No Code's Silent Hill: Townfall project.
