Responding to player feedback, League of Legends is reinstating Hextech Chests. This article details the upcoming update and other changes based on community input.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Decisions
The Return of Hextech Chests
Following player feedback, Hextech Chests are making a comeback in League of Legends (LoL). A developer update posted on February 27, 2025, on Riot Games' website and YouTube channel, outlined upcoming changes.
Riot Games acknowledged the negative reception to recent updates, stating, "We've heard your feedback, and it's clear we need adjustments in several areas." The return of Hextech Chests was a key request: "We understand Hextech Chests weren't just about rewards; they were a crucial part of the rewarding experience in League. We underestimated their importance, leading to poorly received changes."
Starting with patch 25.05, players can earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight chests are from the free pass, and two are earned through the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed, Further Fan Feedback Implemented
The Exalted Mordekaiser skin release has been delayed to ensure it meets expectations. The entire Exalted skin line will also see delays, meaning fewer skins will launch this year than initially planned.
More fan feedback led to changes including: the replacement of a non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence (addressing a shortage on the paid pass); a 50% reduction in Blue Essence costs for all champions (patch 25.05); and the reinstatement of Clash's monthly schedule (ARURF in March, regular SR Clash in April).
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return
Popular features, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, are returning. Your Shop is scheduled for patch 25.06, and the Emporium for 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their commitment to ongoing improvement, stating, "Improving League is an iterative process. Today's updates are a significant step, and we will continue to monitor player feedback and adjust accordingly." This demonstrates Riot's dedication to incorporating player feedback. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. Visit our League of Legends page for the latest news.
