Wordsmiths and gaming enthusiasts have a fresh challenge on their hands with Letterlike, a unique roguelike word game that combines the essence of Balatro and Scrabble. This innovative blend of vocabulary prowess and roguelike randomness offers a gaming experience that's truly one-of-a-kind.
Make Words in Letterlike
Letterlike is a roguelike game where each run presents a unique mix of letters and challenges, all generated procedurally. This means every playthrough is filled with endless possibilities and potential triumphs.
In each game, you start with a set of letters. Your mission is to craft meaningful words, score points, and progress through levels. Each level consists of three rounds, and to advance, you must accumulate enough points by creating high-scoring words, similar to Scrabble. You have five chances, or lives, per round, so strategic thinking is key.
If you find yourself dealing with a less-than-ideal set of letters, don’t worry. You can discard some, though remember, discards are limited, so choose wisely. Additionally, the game features a rearrange mode where you can drag, drop, and shuffle letters to maximize your word-making potential.
In the final round of each level, a special ability is activated that renders certain letters useless, scoring zero points. This adds an extra layer of strategy to your gameplay.
As you play, you can use your points and rewards to purchase items that enhance your runs. Some buffs are automatically applied to your game, while others unlock at specific levels. Collecting gems also allows you to acquire powerful upgrades, making your future runs smoother and more successful.
Will You Try It?
Letterlike stands out with its simple, minimalist design yet offers endless fun. The game allows you to replay specific runs with friends using shared seeds. For example, if you encounter a challenging letter combo, you can share it and challenge your friends to tackle it too!
The game is ad-free and available for a one-time purchase. It can be played offline, and for those curious about the experience, a free demo version is available. If you're interested, head over to the Google Play Store to give the Letterlike demo a try.
