Marvel Exec Confirms Moon Knight's Return, No Season 2 Planned

By DylanMar 29,2025

Marvel fans eagerly awaiting more adventures of Moon Knight, portrayed by Oscar Isaac, will be pleased to know that the character is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, according to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, a second season of the Disney+ show isn't on the cards. Instead, Marvel Television has shifted its strategy since the release of Moon Knight in 2022.

Previously, Marvel's approach involved introducing characters through their own TV series, setting the stage for future tie-ins. A prime example is Ms. Marvel, which introduced Kamala Khan to the MCU before her feature in The Marvels. But now, the focus has pivoted to creating shows designed for annual releases, aligning more closely with traditional television formats.

Winderbaum elaborated on this shift, stating, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."

While fans have seen Isaac reprise his role as Moon Knight in the animated series Marvel's What If...?, no announcements have been made regarding his return in a live-action format.

Looking ahead, the MCU's upcoming TV lineup on Disney+ includes highly anticipated shows such as Daredevil: Born Again in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December. However, recent reports indicate that Marvel Television has paused development on three other projects: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc.

Excitingly, Winderbaum hinted at the potential revival of the street-level heroes from the Netflix series, including Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders. This news suggests a thrilling future for fans of Marvel's gritty urban heroes.
