Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently offered a deeper look into his new AI life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream with BreakthroughT1D. This follows the release of a "not-a-trailer-trailer" last month. Proxi, initially announced in 2018, is finally gaining momentum.
BreakthroughT1D, a leading organization dedicated to Type 1 diabetes research, uses its Twitch channel to collaborate with the gaming community for fundraising. Their "Dev Diaries" series features interviews with game developers, and Wright's appearance provided valuable insights into Proxi.

Proxi is described as an "AI life sim built from your memories." Players input real-life memories as text, which the game then transforms into animated scenes. These scenes are customizable using in-game assets. Each memory ("mem") enhances the game's AI and contributes to the player's "mind world," a 3D environment of explorable hexagons.
This mind world expands and populates with Proxies representing friends and family as more memories are added. Memories are arranged on a timeline and linked to Proxies, reflecting the context and individuals involved. Remarkably, Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds like Minecraft and Roblox.
Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on creating "magical connections with memories" and bringing them to life. He aimed for a deeply personal experience, stating, "I found myself getting continuously closer and closer to the player," and jokingly adding, "It goes to figure that the more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."
Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements forthcoming.
