Summary
Starting January 7th, Xbox Game Pass introduces Quests for PC users, offering rewards exclusively to players 18 and older. These changes include daily, weekly, and monthly point-earning opportunities, plus the return of Xbox Game Pass weekly streaks. Players earn rewards by playing at least 15 minutes, but access to these new benefits is restricted to those 18 and over.
Microsoft is significantly updating Game Pass, adding Quests for PC Game Pass and new ways to earn points. This update prioritizes "age-appropriate gaming experiences," restricting Game Pass Rewards to players 18 and older.
Xbox Game Pass provides access to a vast game library on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs for a monthly fee. Different subscription tiers offer varying benefits, including Quests and Rewards where points earned from completing quests can be redeemed for rewards. Microsoft is enhancing this system.
As announced on Xbox Wire, starting January 7th, Quests expand beyond Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to include PC Game Pass, offering more point-earning avenues. All players 18 and older with active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass memberships can access Xbox Quests and the Rewards Hub through their profile. A minimum playtime is required to earn points, and Quests only apply to games within the Game Pass catalog (excluding those with third-party launchers).
Game Pass Quests and Rewards Changes
- Quests available for PC Game Pass members starting January 7th.
- New Game Pass quests:
- Daily Play: Earn 10 points daily by playing any Game Pass catalog game for at least 15 minutes.
- Weekly Streaks: Play at least five days a week to build a streak. Longer streaks yield higher point multipliers (2x for two weeks, 3x for three, 4x for four or more).
- Monthly 4-Pack: Play four different games (15 minutes each) monthly.
- Monthly 8-Pack: Play eight different games (15 minutes each) monthly (the 4-Pack games count towards this).
- PC Weekly Bonus: 150 points for playing (at least 15 minutes) five or more days.
- The Rewards Hub (for tracking and earning points on Xbox console, the Xbox app for Windows PC, and the Xbox mobile app) is unavailable to players under 18.
The updated Game Pass Quest system simplifies earning rewards with daily, weekly, and monthly opportunities, including revived weekly streaks. Playing at least five days a week multiplies points; consistent weekly streaks increase multipliers to 4x. Daily points are earned by playing any Game Pass title, and monthly packs are awarded for exploring four to eight different games (15 minutes each).
Players 18 and older can earn a new PC weekly bonus by playing 15 minutes daily for five days. Microsoft emphasizes creating age-appropriate experiences, excluding players under 18 from these new benefits and rewards. Younger players can only earn rewards through parentally approved Microsoft Store purchases. This update provides new ways for players to enjoy their Game Pass subscription.
