If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* and have been eagerly awaiting news about a potential Part 3, you might want to brace yourself. Series creator Neil Druckmann has recently doused hopes of a sequel in a comprehensive interview with Variety, primarily focused on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series. When quizzed about the prospects of *The Last of Us Part 3*, Druckmann's response was disheartening:
"I was waiting for this question," he sighed. "I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of 'Last of Us.' This could be it."
While Druckmann's words might be discouraging, skepticism about the finality of his statement is understandable. Naughty Dog is currently engrossed in developing *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December, with no release window in sight, suggesting it's several years away from completion. Given their focus on this new project set in space, it's unlikely that *The Last of Us Part 3* is on the immediate horizon. Druckmann might be playing it close to the vest or simply not ready to commit. Time will tell if his stance changes or if he truly intends to move on from the franchise.
For fans still yearning for more *The Last of Us*, the television adaptation offers a glimmer of hope. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about how many seasons will be needed to cover the story of Part 2, an HBO executive hinted in February that four seasons might be the perfect number to fully explore the narrative.
