Nicolas Cage condemns the use of artificial intelligence in acting, warning that actors who allow AI to influence their performances are heading towards "a dead end." He made this statement during his Saturn Awards acceptance speech for Best Actor in Dream Scenario, as reported by Variety.
Cage emphasized his belief that robots cannot authentically portray the human condition. He argued that allowing AI to manipulate even a small aspect of an actor's performance compromises the integrity and truth of art, ultimately prioritizing financial gain over artistic merit. He stressed the crucial role of art, including acting, in reflecting the human experience through a deeply personal and emotional creative process, a process he believes AI is incapable of replicating. He concluded by urging actors to protect themselves from AI's interference with their genuine and honest expressions, fearing a future where robotic influence strips art of its emotional core and replaces authentic human response with a robotic imitation.

The filmmaking community is also divided on the issue. While director Tim Burton described AI-generated art as "very disturbing," Zack Snyder (director of Justice League and Rebel Moon) advocates for embracing AI rather than resisting its integration into filmmaking.
