Rumored Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake Details Emerge

Recent leaks suggest a full-scale Unreal Engine 5 remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, potentially launching in June 2025, developed by Virtuos. While unconfirmed by Bethesda or Microsoft, these leaks paint a picture of a significantly upgraded experience.

The most intriguing detail revolves around the combat system. The remake reportedly incorporates blocking mechanics inspired by Soulslike games, offering a fresh take on Oblivion's combat without transforming it into a Soulslike title itself. Further improvements are rumored to include enhanced stealth mechanics, a more forgiving stamina system, a redesigned HUD, refined hit reactions, and upgraded archery.

A former Virtuos employee's website, cited by MP1st, is the source of these details. This suggests a more substantial remake than previously anticipated, moving beyond a simple remaster.

Despite speculation, the January 23rd Xbox Developer Direct event is unlikely to feature the Oblivion remake, according to various leakers. While fans eagerly await official confirmation, the rumored June 2025 release date leaves little time before potential verification. The Xbox event will, however, showcase Doom: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and an unannounced title.
