Capcom has recently unveiled exciting new gameplay footage for their highly anticipated 2026 action game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The spotlight of this reveal is none other than the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, who will be leading the charge in this new installment of the Onimusha series.
The gameplay trailer, which debuted during the PlayStation State of Play, showcases the thrilling sword-based combat and formidable foes that players can expect when Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches in 2026. The action-packed scenes promise a visually stunning experience that fans of the series will not want to miss.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword not only features Miyamoto Musashi's unmatched sword skills but also highlights his roguish and comedic personality, adding depth to his character. Capcom has gone the extra mile by modeling Musashi's face after the iconic Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune, who famously portrayed Musashi in samurai films.
In their press release, Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game set in a historical context, starring one of Japan's most celebrated figures. The game's setting is Kyoto, a city now under the control of an evil force called Malic, which is attempting to bring Hell and its denizens into Japan. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades.
To build excitement and prepare fans for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Capcom has also announced the release of a remastered version of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, set to launch on May 23, 2025.
