All Playable Races in Avowed

Avowed, the highly anticipated RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, expands upon the rich fantasy world of Eora, first introduced in the Pillars of Eternity series. While Eora boasts a diverse array of races, Avowed's character creator offers a more limited selection. Let's explore the playable races available at launch.

Humans (Folk)

Humans, or Folk as they're known in-game, are the most common race in Avowed and offer the broadest range of customization options. As part of the larger Kith group, humans benefit from a diverse selection of presets, detailed customization tools including extensive facial presets, a skin tone slider, and a variety of hair textures. This allows for a high degree of personalization, ensuring players can create a character that truly reflects themselves.

Elves

Elves are another playable race in Avowed. Visually similar to humans, elves are distinguished by their slightly different facial structures and, of course, their characteristic long, pointed ears.

Godlikes

While all Envoys in the game's narrative are Godlikes, players can choose to incorporate or omit Godlike features in their character creation. Godlikes possess unique hair and facial features, ranging from subtle to strikingly surreal. At launch, 14 distinct Godlike facial features and four hairstyles are available, offering a wide array of options regardless of chosen race or body type.

Character Customization: Gender and Body Type

Avowed provides four body types: two masculine and two feminine. These are available for both Humans and Elves. Players can also select from two masculine and two feminine voice options, and choose their character's pronouns (he/him, she/her, or they/them).

Unplayable Races

While Avowed features several other Kith races represented by non-player characters (NPCs), including Dwarves, the semiaquatic Aumaua, and the diminutive, hairy Orlans, these are currently not playable. However, Obsidian Entertainment may add more races in future updates or DLC.
