Sony Unveils Sleek Midnight Black PlayStation 5 Accessories
Sony has announced a stylish new Midnight Black Collection for the PlayStation 5, featuring a quartet of premium accessories: the DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation Portal handheld, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. These additions offer a sophisticated dark aesthetic to complement the console.
The collection boasts a consistent price point for three of its items. Both the DualSense Edge controller and the PlayStation Portal are priced at $199.99, while the Pulse Explore earbuds also carry a $199.99 price tag. The Pulse Elite headset is slightly more affordable at $149.99.
Pre-orders for the Midnight Black Collection begin January 16th, 2025, at 10am ET, exclusively through direct.playstation.com. The full launch is slated for February 20th, 2025.
This release follows Sony's trend of offering diverse DualSense controller colors, including previous releases like Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Galactic Purple. The new Midnight Black Edge controller, however, represents a modern update to the original Midnight Black DualSense, complete with a dedicated black carrying case. Similarly, the Pulse Elite headset, while more expensive than its predecessor, also includes a protective felt gray carrying case (along with the earbuds).
Adding to the excitement, rumors suggest a significant upgrade to the PlayStation VR2 headset is on the horizon.
