The Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour kicks off Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. This week features both Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, doubling your chances to catch a Shiny of each! Both Pokémon offer significant benefits in battle, providing a valuable boost when extra damage is needed.

With two Pokémon in the spotlight, prepare for a busy hour! Stock up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense to maximize your catches and Shiny hunting potential. Also, ensure you have plenty of space in your Pokémon storage; you'll be catching a lot!

First, let's look at Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex). This Kanto region Pokémon (Generation 1) is tradeable and transferable to Pokémon HOME. Catching Voltorb rewards you with 3 candies and 100 Stardust. It's a two-stage evolution, evolving into Electrode with 50 candies. Voltorb boasts a max CP of 1141, with 109 Attack and 111 Defense, making it a surprisingly potent attacker.

As an Electric-type Pokémon, Voltorb takes increased damage from Ground-type moves (160% damage) but resists Electric, Flying, and Steel-type moves (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark (Electric) and Discharge (Electric), delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack power. Keep an eye out for its blue Shiny variant!

Next up is Hisuian Voltorb, also #100 in the Pokédex. Like Voltorb, it's from Kanto (Generation 1), tradeable, and transferable to Pokémon HOME. Catching it yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust, evolving into Hisuian Electrode with 50 candies. It shares Voltorb's stats: 1141 max CP, 111 Defense, and 109 Attack. While Electric-type, its strengths and weaknesses differ slightly.

Hisuian Voltorb takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type moves (160% damage), while resisting Grass, Steel, and Water-type moves (63% damage) and other Electric-type moves (39% damage). Its best moveset is Tackle (Normal) and Thunderbolt (Electric), offering 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Partly cloudy and rainy weather conditions enhance its damage output. Its Shiny form features a black body instead of orange.
