"Pre-Hunt Meal Prep Guide for Monster Hunter Wilds"

Monster hunting is a challenging endeavor, and being well-prepared is crucial. One essential aspect of preparation in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is ensuring you've eaten a good meal. Here’s your guide to cooking and eating your own meals in the game.

Cooking and Eating Meals in Monster Hunter Wilds

Unlike previous games like *Monster Hunter World* and *Monster Hunter Rise*, where you could rely on a friendly Palico NPC to cook for you, *Monster Hunter Wilds* requires you to take matters into your own hands. Here are two ways to prepare your meals:

  • By cooking in your tent: When you accept a new quest, take some time to prepare. Head to your tent, navigate to the BBQ Menu using L1 or R1, and select the "Grill a Meal" option.
  • By using the Portable BBQ Grill: Alternatively, you can access the Portable BBQ Grill from your inventory. Press the square button to use it and start cooking from there.

Which Meals to Cook?

In the cooking menu, you have three options: recommended, custom, or favorite meals.

  • Recommended Meals: These are basic and consist of a Ration along with any additional ingredients you have. Cooking with just Rations will give you a 30-minute buff with +50 Health, +150 Stamina, and +2 Attack. Adding ingredients extends the duration by 20 minutes. This meal is the bare minimum for your hunt preparation.
  • Custom Meals: For a more tailored experience, choose the custom meal option. Here, you select one Ration (meat, fish, or veggies), one ingredient, and your finishing touches. Your choice of Ration will grant different buffs, such as increased attack, defense, or elemental resistances. Ingredients and finishing touches enhance these effects, offering benefits like better gathering or reduced damage taken.

Once you've made your selection, start cooking. Your Hunter will automatically eat the meal, and you’ll be ready to tackle your hunt.

That's how you cook and eat meals in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and information on the game, be sure to visit The Escapist.
