PS5 Themes: Sony Unveils Updates for Customization Enthusiasts

By HannahFeb 26,2025

Sony's popular PlayStation console themes for PS5 are disappearing! The limited-time PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes will be unavailable as of January 31, 2025. However, Sony has confirmed their return in the coming months due to overwhelmingly positive fan reception.

A tweet from Sony expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic response to the themes, stating that they are working to bring these nostalgic designs back.

Unfortunately, the company also announced that no additional themes beyond these four classic console designs are currently planned for the PS5. This news has been met with some disappointment from fans who hoped for more customization options.

The anniversary themes, released to commemorate PlayStation's 30th anniversary on December 3, 2024, offered a visual and auditory trip down memory lane. Each theme replicated the distinct aesthetic and sound effects of its respective console generation, transforming the PS5 home screen and menus. The PS1 theme featured the console itself as a background element; the PS2 theme incorporated its signature menu shapes; the PS3 and PS4 themes both utilized their characteristic wave patterns.
