Xbox's Multi-Platform Push Expands: Halo and Flight Simulator Rumored for PS5 and Switch 2
Reports suggest a significant expansion of Microsoft's multi-platform strategy, with potential releases of major Xbox franchises on PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Industry insider NateTheHate claims that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is slated for both consoles, with a projected 2025 release. This follows Microsoft's recent move to bring titles like Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves to other platforms. As Dusk Falls, while not directly developed by Microsoft, also joined this multi-platform lineup after an initial Xbox exclusivity period. Furthermore, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched on non-Xbox platforms in October 2024, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is expected to follow suit on PS5 in Spring 2025.
NateTheHate also indicated that Microsoft Flight Simulator, likely referring to the recently released MFS 2024, is also being considered for a PS5 and Switch 2 launch in 2025.
This expansion is supported by another prominent leaker, Jez Corden, who tweeted that "way more" Xbox games will be heading to PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025. Corden believes the era of exclusive Xbox titles is effectively over.
The future of Call of Duty on Nintendo platforms is also noteworthy. A ten-year agreement between Microsoft and Nintendo guarantees Call of Duty releases on Nintendo consoles. The delay in Switch releases may be attributed to Microsoft awaiting the release of the more powerful Switch 2, better equipped to handle the visual demands of modern Call of Duty titles.
