Dismiss any doubts you might have—*Rune Slayer* is undeniably an MMORPG, and the proof is in the pudding… or rather, the fish. Because, let's face it, fishing is the hallmark of any true MMORPG. But jokes aside, you're here to learn how to fish in *Rune Slayer*, and we're here to guide you through the surprisingly unintuitive process. Trust us, we struggled too, but we conquered the watery depths and are ready to share our hard-earned wisdom.

Before you even think about reeling in a catch, you'll need to accept the fishing quest from Simon the Fisherman (that friendly white-haired chap at the pier where the barracuda swim). He'll ask you to catch five "fish"—and by "fish," we mean anything he considers a catch. In return, he'll give you a handy Tackle Box (we'll explain its importance later).

Here's the catch (pun intended): you need a fishing rod and bait. Conveniently, Simon is your one-stop shop for all things fishing. Buy a Wood Fishing Rod and some Worms. We recommend at least five worms, but ten is better to be safe. Now, here's a crucial detail: you don't equip the bait. Simply having the Worms in your inventory is enough. Each successful catch (or even junk!) will automatically consume one worm.
Here's the real kicker: you need at least five worms in your inventory to catch *anything*. We initially tried with just one worm, with no luck. Once we had five, the fish started biting (or at least, something did). Keep your worms handy in your hotbar to track your supply.
How to Catch Fish in Rune Slayer

First, select your Wood Fishing Rod. No equipping necessary; just have it in your hotbar. Your character will automatically hold it.
Hold M1 to cast your line into the water (the pier near Simon is a great spot).
Watch your bobber. When you see one or two ripples, click M1 again to reel in your catch.
Important Note: This isn't foolproof. You'll often catch nothing, or even junk. But don't worry, Simon counts junk as a catch (hence the "fish" quotation marks earlier).
Simply cast, wait for the ripples, click M1, and repeat until you've caught five "fish". We only managed two actual fish; the rest were Old Cups.

Once you have five catches, talk to Simon to complete the quest. He'll reward you with a Tackle Box. Use it to store your remaining worms and free up valuable inventory space.
