EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with a truly exciting surprise. Today, fans can once again dive into the nostalgia with The Sims 1 and The Sims 2, now available on PC through two Legacy Collections and The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.
EA has announced the release of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, available today on PC. You can purchase these collections separately or grab them together for just $40 in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.
Both collections come packed with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but otherwise, everything is included. Additionally, The Sims 1 features a special Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 includes a Grunge Revival Kit, adding even more value to these already comprehensive packages.
EA's re-release of these classic The Sims games marks the first time in over a decade that they've been readily available to play. The Sims 1 was previously only accessible via disc, making it nearly impossible to play on modern Windows systems without a physical copy and considerable effort. The Sims 2 was last available in 2014 through the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, which is no longer available. These new collections now make all four The Sims games easily purchasable and playable again through digital storefronts.
In our original reviews, we awarded The Sims 1 a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an 8.5/10. While the series has evolved with numerous new features and improvements, the original games remain a delight to explore for their charm, simplicity, unique challenges, and historical significance.
The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app.
