Sony is reportedly planning its usual February PlayStation State of Play broadcast next week. NateTheHate, a leaker with a proven track record (including accurately predicting the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal date), hinted at a State of Play during Valentine's Day week (February 10th-14th).
So, what might Sony unveil? Let's consider its first-party titles slated for 2025. Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei, currently slated for 2025, is a strong contender for a gameplay reveal and release date announcement. Bungie's Marathon, a PvP extraction shooter, could also make an appearance if playtesting plans for this year remain on track. Haven Studios' debut title, Fairgames, is another possibility. While less likely, new trailers for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (also a 2025 release) and possibly even a first look at Naughty Dog's new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, or Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine, could be shown.
However, we likely won't see any of the recently canceled live-service games. Sony recently scrapped two unannounced live-service titles in development at Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games (the latter reportedly a God of War live-service game). The fate of Bend Studio's project remains unknown, but Guerrilla Games' live-service Horizon game reportedly survived the cuts—will we finally see it revealed?
AnswerSee ResultsRegarding third-party announcements, Physint (Kojima's stealth-action title) might be too early for a major reveal, but Phantom Blade Zero (the action RPG from S-Game) is a more likely candidate.
And let's not forget Microsoft's presence on PlayStation. A release date for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny could be announced, and perhaps even a surprise reveal of Halo coming to PlayStation.
Looking back at last year's State of Play offers clues: it featured Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2.
