Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed in an interview with Decider that he hasn't recorded any lines yet, and that several aspects of the film are still "being figured out."
This news shouldn't come as a complete surprise, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.
"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the commencement of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a central antagonist in the third installment. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: Jerome portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges at the film's conclusion not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.
In this alternate reality, the radioactive spider bite intended for Miles shifted to the main timeline, resulting in a different outcome for him. Without the Spider-Man powers, and following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, Miles' Earth fell under the control of supervillains, leading him down a darker path.
The details of this storyline, and its impact on the main Miles Morales, will likely be explored in Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans should prepare for a considerable wait, with a release date not expected before 2026, according to Deadline, and potentially as late as 2028 if they follow the previous film's release schedule.
