Spider-Man 2 PC Hacked Soon After Release

Marvel's Spider-Man 2's PC launch on Steam and the Epic Games Store was notable for its lack of pre-order or pre-download options, resulting in a massive 140GB download. This absence of pre-release access, however, didn't prevent hackers from quickly cracking the game. Within an hour of release, the game's protection-less distribution was compromised, highlighting a relatively simple security system.

Sony's marketing for the PC release was understated, with system requirements only revealed a day prior. Despite this, the game has already secured a position as Sony's seventh-largest Steam release, trailing titles like God of War, Horizon, and Days Gone.

Initial player reception has been mixed. At the time of writing, the game holds a 55% positive rating based on over 1,280 reviews. Common complaints center on optimization issues, crashes, and bugs.

Spider-Man Remastered continues to dominate the series' PC presence, boasting a peak concurrent player count exceeding 66,000. Whether Spider-Man 2 can match this success remains to be seen, but current sales trends suggest a potential for respectable performance over the weekend.
