Nintendo has announced the conclusion of regular content updates for Splatoon 3. While this marks the end of an era, the game isn't entirely abandoned. Holiday events like Splatoween and Frosty Fest will continue, alongside ongoing monthly challenges, weapon adjustments, and balance patches as needed.

"After two incredible years of Splatoon 3, regular updates are concluding," stated Nintendo on X (formerly Twitter). "However, Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will return! Weapon adjustments and balance patches will be released as needed. Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will also continue."

This announcement followed the Grand Festival event on September 16th, commemorated by a video showcasing past Splatfests and the Deep Cut trio. Nintendo's farewell message: "Thanks for holding down the Splatlands with us—it's been a blast!"

The news, coupled with Splatoon 3's two-year anniversary on September 9th, has reignited speculation about a sequel. Fans have pointed to potential easter eggs within the Grand Festival event, suggesting a new city setting for a potential Splatoon 4.

One fan commented on a post featuring in-game screenshots of a futuristic city: "Doesn't look like Inkopolis. Perhaps the setting of Splatoon 4?" Others, however, remain unconvinced, suggesting the location is simply a variation of Splatoon 3's Splatville.

While no official announcements regarding Splatoon 4 have been made, rumors have persisted for months. Reports suggest Nintendo has begun development on a new Splatoon title for the Switch.
